Privacy Policy

Small Wins Ledger ("the app", "we") is a personal-finance journaling app built by an independent developer. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and how it's handled. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate.
The short version: everything you log — wins, goals, categories — stays on your device. Nothing about your money ever leaves your phone. The only things that touch our servers are your Google sign-in profile (if you choose to sign in) and the text of wins you explicitly choose to share to the community feed — and even then, never the amount. The app shows one banner ad via Google AdMob, which handles its own advertising data as described below.
Information we collect
Account information, only if you sign in. Signing in with Google is entirely optional. If you do, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google through Firebase Authentication. We use this only to personalize the greeting and avatar shown inside the app. If you don't sign in, the app works fully and none of this is collected — you're greeted as "Stranger" instead of by name.
Your wins, goals, and categories. Everything you log — a win's title, amount, category, date, and note; any goals you create; any custom categories you add — is stored in a local database on your device only. We never upload this data, have no server that stores it, and cannot see it.
Community posts, only if you choose to share. When logging a win, you can optionally toggle "Share anonymously with Community." If you do, the win's title/note and its category label are sent to our Firestore database under a randomly generated anonymous display name (e.g. "A quiet saver"), together with an anonymous identifier Firebase assigns to your install. The dollar amount is never included in a shared post. If you're signed in with Google when you share, that anonymous identifier can become linked to your Google account internally (so your own past anonymous posts stay attributed to "you" if you later sign in) — but your name, email, and photo are never attached to a community post itself.
Advertising. Small Wins Ledger shows a single banner ad, served by Google AdMob, above the bottom navigation bar. AdMob can collect device and app information — such as your advertising ID, rough location derived from IP address, and general app usage signals — to select and measure ads, including personalized ones where permitted. This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us directly; see how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services. You can turn off ad personalization for your device in your Google account's Ads Settings, or reset/limit your advertising ID under your device's Settings > Privacy > Ads.
What we don't collect ourselves. Small Wins Ledger has no analytics or tracking library and no crash-reporting service of its own. We don't access your contacts, camera, or microphone, or any files outside the app's own storage. We never see or request access to any bank account, card, or financial institution — every amount you log is typed in by you, for you. Advertising data is the one category collected by a third party (Google AdMob) rather than by us, as described above.
How we use information
- To show your name and photo back to you inside the app, if you signed in.
- To display community posts to other users of the app, if you chose to share one.
- To keep the community feed and sign-in working reliably (basic infrastructure logging by Google Firebase, described below).
- To show and measure the app's single banner ad slot, via Google AdMob.
We personally do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone. Google AdMob's own use of advertising data is governed by Google's policies linked above, not by us.
Where your information is stored
Anything that does leave your device (your Google profile info, and any community posts you choose to share) is stored using Google Firebase — specifically Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Firebase is Google infrastructure and is bound by Google's Privacy Policy. Signing in itself is handled by Google Sign-In / Google Play services. Ad requests and the advertising data described above are handled by Google AdMob, also Google infrastructure, under the same Google Privacy Policy.
Data sharing
We personally don't share, sell, or rent your information to anyone. The only outside party involved at all is Google — as the infrastructure provider for sign-in and the community feed, and as the ad network serving the app's one banner ad slot via AdMob. We don't separately work with any other advertiser, data broker, or analytics company.
Your choices and data deletion
- Local data (wins, goals, categories) is deleted the moment you uninstall the app, or you can clear it any time via your device's app storage settings.
- Signing out stops the app from showing your Google name/photo; your Google account itself is entirely unaffected.
- A shared community post can be removed, or your Firebase account data deleted entirely, by emailing us at the address below — include the anonymous name shown on the post if you know it, to help us find it.
Children's privacy
Small Wins Ledger is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Security
Your Google sign-in and any shared community posts are protected by Firebase's standard authentication and access-control rules. As with any online service, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we don't collect more than the minimum described above.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
